Royal Musselburgh Golf Club

Located on the east side of Musselburgh at the entrance to the town of Prestonpans, The Royal Musselburgh Golf Club's proud heritage is very much in evidence as you encounter the magnificent 'Playfair' architectural features of its Clubhouse,  Prestongrange House, a 16th century baronial mansion which is complemented by a superb James Braid designed parkland course, the perfect setting to enjoy a truly traditional Scottish game of golf.

The 'Royal' is recorded as being the fifth oldest Golf Club in the world and with its high standards of coaching, greenkeeping and hospitality looks sure to attract a constant stream of new members and visitors for many years to come.

Top reviews:

'Quality parkland course with really friendly staff and members..  greens are top class!'

'Excellent catering service from well mannered staff in the superb Clubhouse lounge...good value golfers fayre'

Winterfield Golf Club

Winterfield Golf Club is the 'wee brother' to Dunbars much longer and more challenging championship course which is situated about one mile further along the East Lothian Golf Trails magnificent coastline.

This much shorter course is an ideal venue to play if you want to spend a couple of hours fine tuning your short game and possibly build confidence with a good score as it presents no overly complicated targets and is a very enjoyable walk at a very scenic location.

Prestonfield Golf Club

Prestonfield's picturesque golf course is overlooked by the magnificent Salisbury Crags of Arthurs Seat an extinct volcano and famous Edinburgh landmark. The natural undulations and rolling fairways of this spectacular parkland venue add to the great variety of the 18 tremendous holes on offer.

During summer the course is a haven for wildlife as rich pickings and shelter are abundant from the dense woodland shrubbery bordering the course and the avenues and small copses of colourfully foliaged trees that surround beautifully manicured tees and greens. It is indeed hard to believe that such an expansive countrified area can exist only a mile from the bustling streets of  the Scottish capitals famous city centre. Any golf tourist visiting Edinburgh must play this fantastic course which is a really enjoyable challenge.

The course is fairly flat all round apart from the downward sloping par 5 third and a gradual rise up the adjacent 16th and 17th holes. An interesting mix of long and short par4s, 2 very fair lengthed par 5s and five well protected par 3 holes guarantee a very enjoyable and not overstrenuous golfing challenge.
